Jimmy Cant

Jimmy was initially an S form signing from Arbroath Lads Club and he was called up to the first team in April 1964, making his debut that month in an end of season Division Two game against Hamilton Accies. The following season he again appeared towards the end of the campaign, this time starting in our last five league games and after impressing he appeared regularly during the 1965-66 season and the following campaign, he started every game bar one.

After injuries resulted in him only making 15 appearances during the 1967-68 campaign, he rarely missed a game in the following six seasons. During the 1974-75 season, a mixture of injuries and the emergence of Jimmy McIlravey and John Mitchell saw Jimmy receive less game time and at the end of the campaign he was given a free transfer, and he would go on to sign for Montrose.
