Biography

William played for Dundee between 1899 and 1902, making 40 appearances for their first team during this time. However, due to severe typhoid fever he didn't play during the 1902-03 season and upon recovering he was invited down to Woolwich Arsenal for a month’s trial in early September 1903 and he was signed by the Gunners. Within two months however, he requested to return north, and he signed for us in mid-November to help with the Qualifying Cup run we were on. Upon being knocked out, the committee were impressed enough with William to keep him until the end of the season.

He became a mainstay in our team during the 1903-04 season and signed on again for the following year but began to fall out the team in November and he made his last two competitive appearances for the club in January 1905.
