Biography

David featured against us in an end of season friendly for a Junior Select XI in May 1903 and was signed up after impressing. Prior to signing, he had been playing for Huntly United due to working in the town, and he had been hugely impressive during the 1902-03 season with Huntly winning the Aberdeenshire Qualifying Cup and David reportedly interesting Rangers.

He started off the season as first choice ‘keeper and played in every game of our Scottish Qualifying Cup run during the 1903-04 season up until the final, which he missed out on due to illness. He never managed to win his place back and remained as backup goalkeeper until the middle of the following season when he left the club and joined Aberdeen, where he only ever played for their A team.

Later in his career, he is reported to have been playing or Inverness Citadel in November 1905 and Inverness Caledonian in late July 1907 before he re-signed at Gayfield in early November 1908 and featuring twice more for the club.

He also turned out for Lochgelly to cover for the absence of their regular goalkeeper in December 1910 and he once again appeared for us against Forfar Athletic in a Northern League match in early January 1911. He signed for Brechin City as an amateur for the 1911-12 season.
