Biography

Alan was signed on loan from St. Johnstone in February 1990 by John Young, and he immediately slotted into the heart of our defence, playing in every game up until the end of the season. Attempts were made to sign him permanently, but several offers were rejected by the Saints, and he moved to Brechin City in October 1990.

After just under three years with the Glebe Park side, he was signed by Danny McGrain in August 1993, but he only managed three games before a bad injury saw him spend six months on the sidelines before a return in the spring saw him back in the team initially under Jocky Scott and then co-managers George Mackie and Donald Park. Several weeks after the season ended, Alan was sold to Forfar Athletic in a deal which saw Ian Downie sign up at Gayfield, and he would go on to the Third Division title with the Loons that season.
