Kevin was signed in July 2000 by Dave Baikie from Hill of Beith Hawthorn, having previously spent time at Rangers as a youth, Ross County, Hamilton Accies and Raith Rovers before dropping down to the juniors in 1999. He was a regular in the team, featuring in both defence and midfield, up until mid-February when he was sold to Brechin City for around £5,000, leaving the club in somewhat acrimonious circumstances due to a 'wardrobe malfunction' in a team photo in the previous weeks which saw the club make the decision to sell him. He would spend several years with the Glebe Park side before moving on to have further senior spells with Clyde, St Johnstone, Vikingur, Raith Rovers, East Fife and Forfar Athletic followed by moving into management with Hill of Beith and Dundonald Bluebell.

Arbroath 1 - 1 Partick Thistle
Scottish League (Second Division)
It is just one day under three months since we played our last game of last season and it was against today's visitors the mighty Maryhill Magyars. We ran out worthy 3-2 winners then with Scot Peters, Barry Sellars and Paul Brownlie scoring the goals. Barry's goal turned out to be his last for the club scored in his last appearance for the Lichties as he joined Clyde's "Juniors" over the summer.
Today sees us start the second quarter of the season and gives me the opportunity to look back over the first quarter which, if nothing else, was eventful. Dave has gone, John B is now manager, Coops, Tindal, Devine and Bryce have all left the club whilst John McGlashan and Good have signed and Grant Johnston did not!! Looking at my match notes from the first match against the Jags which was just over 2 months ago I reported "Dave Baikie will probably be a happy man after this result as he achieved what it looked as if he had set out to do - contain Partick and get a point from the game. Playing at home, in the first game of the season, the home support was looking for a more adventurous approach from the team. If this had been at Firhill we would have been praising the team but this was at Gayfield and with the wind at our backs in the second half we should have put the visitors under more sustained pressure than just the last 5 minutes or so. The jury is still out on Good (he maybe better in midfield), the centre three of Mallan, McGlashan and Bryce were lacking the necessary pace to pressure the defence (someone like Heenan might have made all the difference) and the defence looked as if they had been cobbled together (bring back McAulay and/or Crawford) not sure who should be playing where or covering whom.". In light of events over the last month it makes interesting reading but at least the youngsters have been given an outing in the first team.
Again hit badly by suspension, John Brownlie had been unable to strengthen his squad prior to today's match and lined up 4-4-2 against the visitors who had los 7 nil to Forfar last weekend. Arbroath took an early lead following a low Mercer cross from the right, a defender failed to clear and the ball landed at John McGlashan's feet and he wasted no time in slotting it home. Following a Brownlie corner in 33 minutes, Mercer challenged the keeper and the ball broke to George Rowe who kicked the ball home to put us 2 nil up. Stenhousemuir exerted some pressure before half time and at the other end Paul Brownlie should have put us 3 up before the interval but the defence cleared.
Following our fine victory over Stenhousemuir last Saturday, the euphoria died away when we heard during the week that David McInally had been recalled to Stark's Park due to an injury crisis at the Rovers. David had an excellent spell at Gayfield and recently has been a very dangerous player on our left flank - the fans will miss him.
