John McAulay

John spent five years playing for Clyde before being snapped up by manager John Brogan in July 1995. He immediately became a regular in the starting 11, featuring as a right back, centre back and central midfielder during his time at the club, and in his first five seasons at Gayfield the least amount of games he played in a season was 35. During this time he helped the club win promotion from the Third Division in the 1997-98 campaign, and while he began to feature more as a substitute during the 2000-01 season, he was a big part of the team winning another promotion, this time from the Second Division.

Upon winning promotion to the second tier, John began to feature more off the bench than as a starter, but he still played over 20 games in each of our seasons in the First Division. After being relegated, John stayed with the club for a final two seasons which took him up too a decade spent at Gayfield and he was awarded a testimonial which was played against Dundee on 19th April 2005 and resulted in a 3-1 win for ourselves. At the end of the 2004-05 campaign John, who had captained the team for three seasons during his time at Gayfield, left on a free transfer and would go on to join Pollok.
