Biography

Neil was signed in summer 2004 by Steve Kirk following his release by Berwick Rangers and during his first season at Gayfield he competed with Tim Woodcock for the first-choice goalkeeping position, as well as Craig Coyle in the final stages of the season, with Neil being our first choice for most of the campaign. The following season he initially lost his place to Mark Cairns, before the signing of Mark Peat in mid-August saw him become our backup ‘keeper, although he came back into the side for the last half a dozen games of the campaign. He was given a free transfer that summer, going on to play for Bellshill Athletic before going onto become Dunfermline Athletics’ goalkeeper coach.

Debut

Scottish League (Second Division)

Timeline

  • Debut - Stirling 5 - 2 Arbroath

Today was one of those days that say summer football in Scotland is a great idea, blue, sunny skies, not a breath of wind. Of course the maroon marauders managed to make it feel like a wet December weekend in Fraserburgh. Many who witnessed the game will blame the referee, but in hindsight Kirkcaldy’s favourite delivery driver was barring one incident fair to both teams. Stirling players who went down quicker than an FA secretary didn’t help him.

  • Last Appearance - Alloa 1 - 0 Arbroath

Jamie Stevenson grabbed the winner as Alloa Athletic kept alive their hopes of retaining their Division Two place with a semi-final play-off victory.
