Barry, whose dad Eric played for the club during the 60s and 70s and is in our hall of fame, was first signed from Forfar West End in February 1998. Prior to playing with West End, he had been part of the Rangers youth team as well as spending time at Gayfield in our own youth team before playing junior football. During the 1998-99 campaign Barry initially established himself as a regular at right wing back before being given more opportunities as a central midfielder the following season. After impressing in this more central role, Clyde signed him up at the end of the 1999-00 season.

His time at Broadwood was brief and he signed for Forfar Athletic in November 2000, staying with the Station Park side until June 2006 when John McGlashan persuaded him to sign back up at Gayfield. He spent a further three and a half years at the club, mainly featuring as a central midfielder but occasionally being used as a forward, before new manager Jim Weir allowed him to leave in January 2010 and he returned to Forfar Athletic.
