Biography

Having been provisionally signed previously from Arbroath Lads Club, Jim was called up and made his debut aged just 17 years old in a Division Two game against East Fife in mid-December 1963. He played in the next two games, before dropping out for the returning David Thomson. He remained as backup for Thomson during the following campaign before making a further eight appearances towards the end of the 1964-65 season. The following season he had a run of games in September, but the signing of Jim Samson saw him once again drop out of the team and at the end of the 1965-66 campaign he was given a free transfer.

After leaving Gayfield, Jim signed for Carnoustie Panmure before returning to the senior game in November 1971, signing for Forfar Atheltic and spending over six years with the Station Park side.
