Biography

Sandy featured as a trialist against Albion Rovers and Greenock Morton in Second Division games in April 1963 and after impressing in both games, scoring a double against the Coatbridge side, he was signed up after the Morton game late on in the month from his junior team Sunnybank. The following campaign he was predominantly used as a centre forward, although he played four games as a full back, with Dave Easson the preferred centre forward for much of the season. During the 1964-65 campaign he started off with a spell at right back before a period in and out the team at centre forward before spending the last month of the season at wing half.

After being given a regular run of games at centre forward in the autumn months of the 1965-66 season, he dropped out the team in mid-November in favour of Jimmy Jack, and despite his versatility he failed to find a regular place in the team after this, playing just six more games before the end of the campaign, at which point he was given a free transfer. He would go on to join Keith in the Highland League later that summer.
