Ian Stewart (1946)

Ian was signed from Perth Celtic in September 1963, and he broke into the first team initially towards the end of the 1964-65 season, making his competitive debut in Division Two game against East Fife in April 1965 and playing the final four league games on the left wing.

The following season he continued as a regular feature and after a series of impressive performances to start off the campaign Dundee Utd purchased him for £5000 in late September. His time at Tannadice was followed by a spell with Greenock Morton prior to rejoining the club in January 1967 and making a further six appearances before the end of the 1966-67 season. Having been released at the end of the campaign, he went on to play with Forfar Athletic and Montrose before coming manager of Brechin City and then returning to Gayfield as our manager in January 1980.
