Bobby was signed in early September 1960 from Swansea Town for a fee of around £1000, the Dundonian having spent the last three years in Wales after initially playing for Downfield and Lochee Harp prior to his move south. With the sale of Bobby Williamson to St. Mirren just days before Bobby’s signing, he immediately took the number one spot, and he only missed one competitive game from signing until the end of the campaign. During the 1961-62 season, he competed with Dave Thomson to be our first-choice keeper, and he played roughly half our games as he missed two spells of the season with different injuries.

At the start of the 1962-63 season, it was Dave Thomson who started as our first choice, and throughout the season Bobby was unable to dislodge him, featuring in just one competitive game before leaving the club in January 1963 for Dundee Utd. He spent the rest of the campaign with the Tannadice Pak side before moving to Raith Rovers, where he would spend the rest of his career.
