Dave Easson (1936)

Dave was signed by Dundee in August 1952, Arbroath YMCA player having impressed in trials. He spent six years with the Dens Park side, making 14 appearances prior to his release at the end of the 1957-58 season. That summer he rejected offers from Bury, Southampton, Falkirk and Dundee Utd, preferring to become a part time player with his hometown club and being signed in late July.

During his first season at the club, Dave showed sensational form throughout the campaign, scoring an incredibly 53 goals in 49 appearances as he helped the club gain promotion. In the top division he notched a further 18 goals in 45 games, not missing a single game in either of these two seasons. Following our relegation back to Division Two, a fee was agreed with Raith Rovers, and he joined up with the Starks Park side in May 1960.

After a year at Starks Park, he spent the first half of the 1961-62 campaign with Greenock Morton being returning to Gayfield in January 1962. He spent a further two years playing for the club, sometimes being used as an inside forward as well as in his usual centre forward position, before a double leg break suffered in a Division Two game against Cowdenbeath in February 1964 put him out the team. Despite several attempted comebacks, Dave was unable to play again, and he officially retired from playing in August 1965.
