Ian MacKenzie

Ian initially featured as a trialist in a Division B game against Cowdenbeath in early December 1953, with the Alyth United man playing at inside left. The following campaign he was given a further trial match, this time appearing at left half in a friendly against Stirling Albion in late April 1955, and he went on to be signed permanently that summer. He quickly established himself as a regular in the team, mainly featuring at left half, up until October 1957 when he emigrated to Canada.

Upon his return to the country from Canada in late 1959, Ian returned to Gayfield with the club having held his registration during his time abroad and he made two appearances in the latter stages of the 1959-60 season. During the 1960-61 campaign Ian started off at left half before spending the second half of the campaign being used as an inside left prior to his release at the end of the season, after which he went on to have a brief spell with Brechin City.
