Biography

Ernie initially appeared as a trialist in a league game against Dumbarton in early September 1948 before again appearing in another league game against Stenhousemuir in November prior being fully signed up from junior club Montrose Roselea in late December. He made a further five appearances that season before missing the first few months of the 1949-50 campaign due to injury before returning in early November and by mid-December he had established himself as a regular in our front line. After putting in a series of impressive performances in his first regular run of games since joining the club, there was interest from various full-time clubs and Dundee eventually won the battle to sign Ernie in mid-April 1950.
