Biography

Willie was signed in mid-November 1944 after previously featuring for Carnoustie Panmure while stationed in the area with the Royal Navy. He immediately came into the team in his preferred right half position, however during his time at the club he played everywhere except centre half and in goal. During the 1946-47 campaign, his impressive performances caught the eye of scouts from down south and in late January 1947 he moved to Manchester City after a bid of £2000 was accepted.
