Biography

Dave was signed by Ian Stewart in June 1981; the young goalkeeper having previously been an S signing for Celtic from Jeanfield Swifts. He started off the 1981-82 season as second choice to John Lister but became our regular choice from mid-September until mid-January when an injury saw him drop out of the team for several months and he returned just prior to the end of the campaign.

For the majority of the 1982-83 and 1983-84 seasons, Dave competed with Dave Larter for the number 1 jersey, and he played most games he was available for. In late March 1984, he received a bad injury in a Second Division game at home to Queen’s Park and unable to recover, he left Gayfield over a year later and retired from playing football.
