John, nicknamed Tank, was signed in late August 1934 after an initial trial in a Second Division match against Kings Park. The former Shettleston and Vale of Clyde man became our main left half after joining and he played every game after his signing up until he fractured his leg in a match against Kings Park in early March 1935. The injury would keep him from playing for over six months until he signed for Brechin City in mid-October 1935.
