Biography

James initially featured as a trialist in early November 1931 against East Fife, but he continued with Forfar East End for the rest of the 1931-32 campaign before being signed up at Gayfield in mid-June 1932. He started the season as a regular at inside right but dropped out at the start of October and struggled to regain his place, featuring only six times during the second half of the campaign before he left the club that summer to return to Forfar East End. After again impressing with East End, he made an appearance for Forfar Athletic early in the 1937-38 campaign before continuing with his junior club up until mid-January 1938, when he tragically died aged just 28 after an accident at the Jute Works where he worked.
