Biography

William initially featured twice as a trialist, his first appearance coming in late March 1931 against Albion Rovers before making another appearing in the middle of the following month against Dundee Utd. After impressing he was signed up from Perth YMCA, where he had been their captain, and he went on to establish himself as our regular centre half during the 1931-32 season. He started the following campaign where he left off before dropping out the team in mid-October and after making only three appearances from then until the end of the season he was released on a free transfer.

Two months after his release, he was signed up by Dundee Utd but after six appearances at the start of the campaign he was deemed surplus to requirements and allowed to leave in October. During the 1935-36 season, he turned out for the newly formed Fair City Athletic in his native Perth.
