Biography

Willie, an Aberdeen Woodside player, was given a trial in a Second Division match against Bathgate in late March 1927 and after scoring a hat trick he was promptly signed up and was our regular centre forward until the end of that season, notching 9 goals in 6 games including his initial trial match. At the time of his signing, he was wanted by a whole host of teams in both Scotland and England, but he wished to stay in his native Aberdeen.

The following campaign he started as our regular centre forward, but his form tailed off and into the New Year he dropped out the team after the signing of Jim Cowie. After a brief spell on loan at Brechin City in February 1928, he returned to Gayfield and made three further appearances before the end of the 1927-28 season. He was released at the end of the campaign and would go on to join Brechin City that summer before returning to the juniors with Stoneywood.
